On Friday, 14 December, starting from 3 PM at the Čukarica Cultural Centre, the students of International School Savremena once again performed an adaptation of the timeless musical “Grease” for eighth graders from Belgrade primary schools, as well as for the students of Savremena Gimnazija and International School Savremena.

Practice makes perfect

The audience said goodbye to the year in which “Grease” turned 40 years old with a successful mix of acting, singing and dancing from Savremena’s talented students who performed, among others, the well-known songs “You’re the One That I Want”, “Summer Nights”, “We Go Together” and “Grease”.

Musical

The script, direction and musical arrangements were born in the creative theatre workshop of Savremena’s students and teachers. After numerous rehearsals, the premiere took place in June in front of a full house at the Vlada Divljan Cultural Centre.

Full house and loud applause

Ana Mihajlovic ProfesorkaI am very happy that our “SGrease” had one more performance and that we dazzled the audience once again. The ovation and applause echoed round the venue after every scene and the intense energy we created with our young actors spread onto everyone in the room. One primary school student said that he could watch the play ten more times. In the same vein, one of the teachers present commented that this was one of the best amateur plays he had ever seen, which brought smiles to our faces, Serbian teacher Ana Mihajlović said proudly.

She stressed that both her and Music teacher Tamara Rajinac, with whom she prepared the students for this musical, are thrilled that the show took off, and that together with a great team of talented students they proved that hard work and dedication not only pay off, but give you so much more through the students’ love, gratitude, respect and dedication.

“Congratulations to our “SGrease family”, as the students named our small team, and I hope that we will have many chances in the future to shine on the stage again!”, Ana shares her impressions.

The students said goodbye to 2018 in the best possible way in front of a packed auditorium at the Čukarica Cultural Centre.
