At the municipal athletics competition, held on Wednesday, 10 May, at the “Rajko Mitić” stadium, Savremena’s students shone, achieving incredible results in numerous disciplines, and returned to school with as many as 10 medals. Through their great results, some of them secured their place in the city competition, held on Thursday, 11 May.
Track and field athletes excel in every discipline
As many as 12 Savremena’s students showed their talent at the competition and won medals. Effort and hard training both at school and outside of school hours eventually paid off.
High ranking in jumps and shot put
On this occasion, Andrej Mojsejev and Katarina Matijašević won gold, accomplishing excellent results in the long jump. Andrej amazed the audience with the fantastic result of 4.94 metres, and Katarina followed with her 4.20-metre long jump, which secured their place in the city competition.
Konstantin Bošnjak also proved to be an excellent jumper. With his jump of 148 centimetres, he joined Savremena’s bronze team, while Marko Radojković achieved a memorable result when he, due to his great technique and strength, managed to throw the shot as far as 10.07 metres and win the second place in this discipline.
6 medals for runners
At the competition, Savremena was also represented by its team of runners.
With a time of 58.75 seconds, gold winner Petar Stanković excelled in the 400-metre race and left the tough competitors behind, earning a place in the city competition. In the same discipline, Savremena’s student Teodora Damjanac deservedly won an excellent second place and a silver medal with a time of 1 minute and 24 seconds, while the bronze went to Anđela Adžić, who finished the 100-metre race in just 15.4 seconds.
Long distance running was highly successful for Savremena’s students, as well.
Matija Čavić won bronze by running 1000 metres in 3 minutes and 27 seconds, while Lea Denić completed the 800-metre race in 3 minutes and 31 seconds, thus winning silver. Fast and adroit Iva Jevđenijević, Katarina Matijašević, Nataša Katić and Anastasia Ćeha won silver in the relay race with a result of 3 minutes and 31 seconds, proving that Savremena also cherishes team spirit.
A promising team
At the competition, Savremena’s students proved how adroit, agile, skilful and persistent they are.
At the city competition held the following day, Thursday, 11 May, Katarina came 5th in the long jump, and Petar Stanković and Andrej Mojsejev were ranked among the top 10 in their disciplines. Thanks to the preparations and great support from their PE teacher Stefan Radojičić, the students managed to find themselves among the top young athletes in Serbia.
